Ram
It is my understanding that FCP 6 has a cap on the amount of RAM that it can utilize...I believe 6 gig. Question: Is there any reason to increase the amount of RAM on your system above the 6 gig threshold? We are editing on Mac G5 and trying to figure out how to optimize our system for HD.

Get Intel model
Sirs,
Humbel Opinion: sell G5 and RAM money will be better spent on Intel Mac Pro, even though now RAM is cheap for olding Macs. or keep G5 and backup or server for data files. 2gb RAM with old dual processors 2.66 ghz Core2Duo (<US$2000 Apple store: Refurbished) will far out perform G5 with maximum RAM added and HD/HDV edit and render. New base model 8 core Mac Pro (US$2800) will distance much more. Mac Pro performance trials/comparizons can may be found at BareFeats.com site Regards, |
