Soundtrack Pro nightmares...here we go again!
I'm completely disappointed with this shambles of an application. (And apologies if my rants are only too frequent)
Has anybody had trouble with disappearing waveforms whilst editing multi-track projects? So you send your edits straight from FCP...fine, it's all there. Let's get too it. Go to tinker with the levels and boost some of the audio. as SOON as i click on the first bit of audio. The waveforms disappear off the timeline. We have playback, but can't edit anything else. All effects and adjustments are disabled...and game over!!! What could possibly be doing this? I've heard it so many times now and it's really not a way a "professional" audio post system should act. Hope anybody can open up the floor for discussion/solutions. |

I've not seen very many people using (or discussing the app) on this forum, so you'll probably get more assistance on the Apple forums pages:

Neil,
I, too, am disappointed in the relatively poor quality/stability of Soundtrack pro 2 (compared with the previous version). Having said that, I still use it a lot, just in a fairly restricted way. And that works out for me - it has to, I really depend on Soundtrack Pro 2. I think the main thing I do differently is I do not ever send clips/audio around between the various applications. I mostly record dual system, so the audio is quite naturally separate and I treat it separately. And while I do run into minor surprises/inconveniences due to bugs, I can get my job done. I don't know for sure if my better experience is due to the fact that I don't send data between the apps; it's just a data point from my experience. I hope, of course, that Apple will fix Soundtrack Pro 2 and make it realiable, but until then, maybe this is a workaround that can help some of us stay productive. - Martin
