Best way to Upgrade to FCS2
I´m about to upgrade from a retail version of Final Cut Studio to Final Cut Studio 2.
I wonder which is the best way? Do I just run the install program or Reinstall the OS too? I have: iMac Intel Core 2 Duo / 2.4Ghz / 4GB RAM / MAC OS X 10.5.1 / QT 7.3.1 FCP 5.0.4 Does the previous version (FCS) have to be installed for the Upgrade or what? Any advice is welcome. Juan |

Juan,
The previous version of FCS does not have to be installed prior to upgrading; the installer will simply ask for the serial number of your full FCS license. There have been a lot of reports when FCS2 first came out indicating that one can avoid problems by doing a clean install, rather than rely on the installer to upgrade the FCS installed on the computer. With regard to the OS, though, I am not aware of any reasons for reinstalling that, too, other than maybe it may be the easiest way to fully remove the existing FCS installation from your computer. But once correctly installed, FCS2 won't care if the OS was reinstalled or not. Now, if you were upgrading the OS also (such as from Tiger to Leopard), that would be a different story... - Martin
