16mb vs. 8mb buffer external drives!?

I just bought a Rocstor 1 TB firewire drive, and realized it's an "8mb buffer size".
Should I have gotten the 16mb instead?! I use final cut and after effects on a powerbook, with this cause me to drop unnecessary frames or something?
