Need Advice on Frame Rate / 24PA pulldown removal
Hi,
So I've shot a lot of footage in 24PA with the hopes that it might one day see a 35mm film print. I shot in 24PA knowing that I could use the FCP 24pa-pulldown removal to edit in "true" 24p and not 29.97. However, for the purposes of its initial exhibition, it will be playing in video off tapes or DVDs. Therefore, when I CAPTURE this footage to FCP, what's the best approach for editing? (I'm assuming I'm not mistaken on anything here... but if I am - and it wouldn't surprise me - please correct me!) 1) If I import my footage using the 24pa-pulldown removal... and want to show the project first on video... i would then have to render out another 29.97 version... correct? (In which case, I would just be rendering-in frames I already removed during capture?) 2) So, am I better off NOT using the pulldown removal... editing in 29.97... and then somehow removing the pulldown to true 24p only if my project goes to film-out? (is that even possible in FCP?) I have a lot of footage to capture, so this is a pretty big decision and I greatly appreciate any input and opinions. Thanks, -Stephen |
