Question about the HD 100 and final cut pro

I have a Question when I play my 730p footage from the camera to a HD tv I get a full screen of HD Picture but when I edit my footage in final cut pro I get black on the top and black on the bottom of the screen HD footage is in the middle how do you edit the HD100 footage and have the finished project play out like it plays from the camera? Thank in advance Gary Williams

Hi Gary.

Check your sequence settings. Just click on your sequence to make it active, then select (from the top menu bar) Sequence>Settings.

My guess is that you are trying to edit 720p30 footage in a non-anamorphic NTSC sequence.

Just go the Easy Setup and select the codec that you wish to edit in. (E.g. HDV 720p30, AIC 720p30, etc. or, if you want to edit in SD, select Anamorphic NTSC DV or Anamorphic NTSC DV50, [or even Uncompressed] etc., etc.)

Applications such as Compressor and DVD Studio Pro will treat an Anamorphic SD sequence as being 16:9 (even though SD is actually 4:3) and will output it that way (16:9).

Are you editing in full screen? If so that could just be because widescreen monitors are 16:10 instead of 16:9
