FCP and the Tascam FW-1884
Does anybody know if this firewire audio control surface works well with FCP? I'm looking for a firewire audio interface with adat connectivity to go with my MBP. The FW-1884 has the connectivity and supposedly can interface with FCP. There is a used one available for a decent price. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks, Peter |

Peter,
I have the 1884's little brother, the FW-1082, and it works nicely with FCP (and the other Apple Pro apps). The Tascam device has a Mackie emulation mode which works fine (the current version of Logic supports the native Tascam interface, too). I have no doubt that the 1884 will work with FCP, too. The only inconvenience is that the mixer window in FCP needs to be open for the control panel to work. It doesn't have to be visible, but it needs to be open. Other than that, I've found the FW-1082 to be a great unit. - Martin

Thanks Martin,
If the guy hasn't sold it yet, I'm going to check it out. Peter |
