Final Cut Server

Has anyone:

a) Actually used Final Cut Server?
b) Know of anyone actually using it?
c) Seen a demo of it?
d) Know when its going to be available?

I'm guessing its not available yet and the answer to the questions is no but I'm interested in learning more about it and the information from Apple is not very helpful.

I know one thing, the current project I am uploading right now, could really use Final Cut Server. I have now close to 230 hours of footage.

From what I gathered, sometime this year. I did find out on Apples website that it will cost 999.00

Final Cut Server will ship soon...

Final Cut Server will most likely ship in the first half of September.

As an Apple Pro Video VAR, that is what I have gathered - though Apple rarely releases a hard ship date for any hardware/software product.

It appears that since NAB, several 3rd party products have gained workflow integration to expand the products usefulness.

I am scheduled for Apple technical training on the product at the end of August, so all the details will be available 1st of September if it is not shipping by that time.

This is great, I hope it works as well as it reads.

If anyone takes the plunge, please share your experience. We may purchase it after NAB.

Is FCServer Apple's answer to Avid Unity, or is there more to it than that? Someone was asking me about it, and I was hard pressed to know if there is any benefit to a single-user on one workstation situation, as opposed to a collaborative multi-station setup.
