Wavy Flashback Transition

I am looking for the classic wavy flashback transition. I found Alex4D templates (Alex Gollner -- lots of free stuff!) and the circular one is ok but I really wanted the transition that the old sitcoms used where the image went all wavy. Short of learning how to do this myself in Motion, any pointers? Alex4D had one for FCP7 but I didn't find one for FCPX.

Thanks,
Chip

Re: Wavy Flashback Transition

You mean a "pond ripple" transition?

Re: Wavy Flashback Transition

What I had in mind was wavy, top-to-bottom lines. I have a circular wavy pattern (with the center of the circle being fairly undistorted) but the flashbacks I remember from 1960's and '70's sitcoms were vertical waviness. Not sure about pond-like ripples but probably not.

Re: Wavy Flashback Transition

Using a displacement map of a cascade/sheet of shallow water running down a surface combined with a progressive/keyframed blur and crossfade would probably do the trick. Several layer and not automagical, but it'd get the look pretty close.
