Jagged edges on text
Cutting a simple 1080p 29.97 ProRes project using FCP 10.0.4 and Lion 10.7.3. Using Helvetica titles (created in Photoshop CS 5.1 anti aliased). Feeding out via Matrox MXO2 to FSI 17" monitor the text has jagged edges. It's usable, but it is not up to my standards. By contrast, Motion titles look good in the exported QT file, but exhibit the same jagged edges in FCP X. This leads me to believe that it is an issue with X. Any ideas?

Re: Jagged edges on text
Is the canvas size set to 100%? Likewise, is the output through the Matrox pixel for pixel 1080p? Final Cut does weird things with text and graphics when viewing things at a scaled size in the canvas.

I agree with Nate. I've found that if you use the "scale" controller in the video tab… I'll get not as nice text if would have used the font size slider in the text tab.

Re: Jagged edges on text
May or may not be a simple fix,
Are you working in PROXY. or do you have the convert media to proxy on import checked. I had this yesterday and when I was looking at something I had made in motion and imported into my event files when I viewed it in the timeline is wasn't at all sharp. It was only when I swapped over to the high-res files for my export that everything became clear and sharp as a razor blade ! Particularly the text. Maybe this helps ? |

Re: Jagged edges on text
Canvas is 100%.
Text was not scaled. Matrox set to 1080p (but it still exhibits on exported QT file so that doesn't seem like the issue) Working in full ProRes. Very weird. Even the FCP titles have the same issue... |
