component to hdmi
I am curious, I have and hd camera with hdmi as well as an xlh1-A that is component,
Could one use this to go to a ninja or other Hdmi recorders from a component camera?? HDMI to Component Video Audio AV Cable, Canada - DinoDirect.com thanks,

It's actually described as an HDMI to Component cable, not the other way round, not that it really makes a blind bit of difference.
HDMI incorporates HDCP and is a serial digital data stream to boot. In order to convert it to Component (or the other way round) you would require a HDCP processor/ handshake chip set (pigs might fly, but not this one) and a digital serial to analogue processor (I don't see a processor box anywhere, do you?). The whole purpose of HDCP is to prevent the HD data stream being pilfered for bootlegging and is closely guarded by the licensee. There isn't a hope in Hell they would license such a device (if it was a device, which it isn't, it looks just like a bit of rip off cable to me). Read the reviews, the language seem strangely familiar? Yep, the same individual as wrote the product description has also kindly populated the reviews too, very thoughtfull. Just cheap enough that when it inevitably doesn't work, you can't be bothered to call the Mounties. Back to the drawing board on that one, I'm afraid. CS |

I am looking to do something like this as well. I have a FX1. I found this little box will convert component to HDMI ( http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/770114-REG/KanexPro_RGBRLHD_Component_to_HDMI_Audio_Video.html ) and then I was looking at using a Ninja to record that HDMI feed. What I'm struggling with is how to make that little converter box run off of battery power.

If this unit is 110 that down converts to the 5 volts (power supploy is included) then you could use a 12 volt inverter and you are in business!!

For those requiring similar kit but different voltages:
NEBTEK LIBA: Lithium-ion Battery Adapter - NEBTEK Inc Does everything but make the coffee! (Just beware, the higher voltage units seem to have a current limit of only 1.2 amps. and it doesn't actually say it will produce 2.5 amps @ 5 volts, but B&H rarely gets it wrong) CS |
