Maxell iVDR

Maxell USA | iVDR Xtreme Field Tough Media
This is a hard drive for recording p2 tapes in the field. Rugged and reliable. The question is, can it capture footage directly from a camera instead of having to go from the p2 card? In other words, can I hook up my GL2 and use the iVDR as a DTE capture device?

I saw an article on this yesterday, and I was thinking for $1500US and with all the capacity, specs, etc. it seems intriguing.
