The idea was to shoot video that looks like “breathing” photographs and use transitions that look like closing and opening aperture blades on a large format camera.

Amazing images.
I've seen this concept in Advertising and also utilized in a PSA on homelessness.
Black & White adds the right feel and framing is where it should be.
My comment is the reversed video feels forced and took me out of the moment but most people wouldn't notice.

Overall, work like this is timeless!
