I took my kids to the pumpkin patch and brought along the 7D to get more comfortable with it. I'm still getting used to manually focusing everything, and I really thought via the LCD that the lighting was unusable, but it ended up looking somewhat decent. Here is a still of my daughter getting her face painted. I believe I shot this on the 50mm 1.8 cheapo lens that is great for shallow DOF. Coming from HDV cameras, I thought the background would be blown out in an absolutely ugly fashion (sky and corn), but it came out somewhat OK. Dynamic range on this camera blows my FX1 out of the water (not that the FX1 is much to compare to!)
