Allen,
You must use authoring program to format everything properly. For standard DVD a number of files are created with "VOB", "IFO", and "BUP" extensions in the VIDEO_TS folder. For HD DVD, somewhat different files are in the "HVDVD" folder.

If you want your DVD to be playing back on a DVD-Video player you need to author the DVD using a DVD authoring tool (even if you do not put any menu and go straight to the video).
Otherwise, if you just convert your video to mpeg2, put it in the video_ts folder and burn it, you will end up with a DVD-ROM not a DVD-Video and your player in your living room will not recognized it. As David pointed out, a DVD-Video needs additional files to instruct the DVD player what to do. |
