Titles from quicktime to DVD
I am having a hard time getting any quality in my titles when I take it from the full quality quicktime file and burning it to DVD.
I cut my short film in FCP (Intel Imac), exported as a quicktime movie, burned the DVD in toast titanium and viewed it on my DVD player. It looks great in the quicktime but the quality of the titled on the DVD are completely unusable. I hope somone can help. I am a director and cinematographer but am still trying to learn all of the minute details of the editing process that can change the quality of a project. Cheers! Daniel |

So you're saying that the QuickTime output of your project (which I am assuming is DV) looks great, except for the titles which look like crap?
Make sure that when you export from FCP that you aren't encoding to (for example) sorenson, or something silly like that. Make sure you're outputting straight to DV, at the proper aspect ratio, frame rate, and standard (PAL/NTSC). I dont know which MPEG-2 encoder Toast uses, but I would probably reccommend avoiding it. Apple's MPEG-2 encoer isn't great, but I would reccommend using DVD studio pro. (assuming you have final cut studio). Having a good MPEG-2 encoder that is properly configured is essential to good quality DVD output. Hope that helps. Ask more questions if not :) -Derek Prestegard |
