DVD burner for data files
Not sure whether I'm writing in the right forum but could really use some help here:
My DV tape deck's chewing up tapes so as a last resort I've managed to convince my client to accept master files on DVD (as data files, not video). Problem is that when I use the standard Windows 7 DVD burner it takes AGES to write. I thought it would be faster than real time but its more than double! I can't understand why since I have a brand new DVD writer drive installed. It must be the software. So what would you guys recommend that I use to burn data files onto DVD? I used to have Nero but its way too heavy on the system and I just need something simple and straightforward. Any ideas?

Re: DVD burner for data files
Maybe the problem is the way the source files are stored. If your hard drive is slow or needs to be defragmented, then I suppose that could slow things down. Try moving all your source files to a clean, portable USB drive and see if the DVD burn speed improves.
