Standalone DVD Recorders...

I'm really a fan of standalone DVD recorders as a way to keep tape masters "online" and ready to make DVD's. The 80 gigabyte hard drives can free up finished products from NLE systems.

I get the impression that most people on this site don't have use standalone dvd recorders, is that true, and why?
