Question: Proper DVD leaders/count down/smpte bars for Festivals?

Hi,

I've never submitted my film to any festivals before, and now I'm in the process of doing so. Most of them require the entry on a DVD and can screen on DVD format too. My question is, I've seen so many posts and threads about the countdown, the '2-pop', the smpte bars that you should have beforehand, I'm confused.

Is there one PROPER sequence of these 'leaders' you should have before a DVD that you submit to a festival? E.g. am I supposed to have 60 secs of SMPTE bars or how many seconds? Do I put the bars before the xx seconds of blank or after? Can my submission DVD be exactly the same as the exhibition DVD (in the case that I get in)?

Sorry for all the questions, I've looked around the web and can't seem to find a unified answer on this.

Thanks for answering my questions,
Dennis

Isn't this something for the festival to answer? It sounds reasonable
that they decide how they want the entries to be submitted with
what kind of leaders and for how long.

I would contact them with this question.

Ohhh ok. I just thought there might be ONE standard way of doing this.

Thanks for replying though,

Well there very well might be (I don't know), but I wouldn't take
the chance anyway. What if there is a standard but this festival
decides to not go down that path and rejects your movie because
you followed "the standard"? I would ask them, see what they
have to say!

Alright, I'll make tailored versions for each festival.
