Pal to NTSC DVD effect

I thought I'd point out an interesting effect I observed recently. A friend made a feature on a Pal pdx10 and edited it in Premiere 6.5. He rendered it into several large .avis and tranfered it to my computer which has a dvd burner so we could make dvds. I use Premiere Pro. So we set up PP to Pal 16:9 widescreen, dropped the avis in and told it to make a 16:9 ntsc dvd (vbr, 2 pass). The resulting product has a quite different motion to it than the original (shot 60i). Sort of a 24/25p look. And the colors were slightly altered as well, adding to the filmy effect. I really like it, but my friend is pissed because he likes 60i motion colored the way he edited it.

Anyhow, just thought I'd post this information.

Steve.
