DVD Duplication Services?
Can anyone recommend some good DVD duplication services? I'm looking for outfits that can do glass-master pressing, not DVD-R/RW, and can also provide boxes with covers and inserts if I provide camera-ready artwork. I'm looking for minimum quantity 500, but would consider 1,000 if the price was right.
Reliability and price is the key. This isn't a rush job, so quick turn around isn't as important. Thanks! |

Hi Paul,
Can't say they do glass masters but you might look at (if you haven't already); Ahlmedia.com mediatechnics.com CDSG.com I haven't used any of them but have heard of them. Wish I could be more help, Don B. |

I've used Discmakers for CD replication. Their prices are decent and their customer service has always been excellent. I'm sure the care they put into CDROM replication also carries over to their DVD work. I've had a terrible customer service experience with CDROM2GO, so I can't recommend them.

Hi Paul,
I haven't used them myself, but did spend some time talking with an account rep at http://www.crestnational.com. They can create a glass master from DLT or CD-R and the price quoted seemed reasonable to me. They screen print the disks but do not do any paper printing in-house. They will either package/shrink wrap the finished product with printed material you provide or ship you the screen printed disks for packaging locally. They are located in Hollywood, CA, and it might be worth giving them a call just to get another price quote. They were recommended to me by our local school district.

I used Acutrack.com for DVD-9 replication and they were fantastic. Quality was perfect and not a single person ever had a problem playing their discs. And they do make glass masters - all replicators do. I don't know if they'll give them to you, though, if that's the issue. They'll do the whole deal though (amaray cases, inserts, entrapment, etc.)

Thanks, everyone, for the suggestions.
Incidently, I don't need them to give me the glass masters -- I just wanted to specified pressed "silver" DVDs, as opposed to burned DVD-Rs. |

Usually when they say "replication" they mean the high-volume glass master process, and "duplication" means DVD-R. So if you search for "DVD replication" in addition to the ones we mentioned you should easily find the right services.
FYI it typically costs about $2000 for 1000 DVD-5's in full case with artwork. $1000 for just the discs bulk. When I did my DVD-9s I wanted replication but only 150, so I ordered the 1000 bulk, 150 amaray cases, and did short-run digital printing of 150 entrapment covers. Some places offer 500 but usually it's only little less than the price for 1000, since the glass master is the most expensive part and the discs themselves cost only pennies to manufacture. |
