Pioneer A07 don't buy

we just bought one of these and it was a big dissapointment, it comes with ulead burn now software that does not burn discs in the udf 1.02 format...the compatibility just fell off 80%...

if better software comes around i might consider it..we returned it...

Can't you just use your previous burner software or buy Nero?

I would highly recommend it for use with Macs. It works great with both Toast and the Mac Disk Utility.

Figures... I just bought an A06 for my Mac about 2 months ago. Does the full 8x dvd-r work with Toast as well?

I don't think 8x media is available yet.

There are a number of people on the DVD UseNet groups that
are having success burning 4x DVD-R at 8x.

how are burning your movie dvd files?
do you use a mac or pc...

i should have specified the drive itself is great, but on a pc i have yet to be able to burn a 1.02 udf disc using the supplied software, when new software comes out, maybe it will be useful to me, nero, reel and scenarist are all great at keeping discs compatible by using 1.02 udf...

ulead just doesn't get it...i called pioneer they told me to give it time, new supporting software should be coming out soon, but that helps me very little today...

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I installed and uninstalled ULead ... it was causing conflicts in my system. I use Nero for burning data and used both Encore and Premier Pro to burn DVD movies.

You can buy Nero for as little as 50 euro/USD directly
from their website. I would not say "don't buy the Pioneer" for
the reason that it ships the wrong software with it. Ofcourse it
is definitely something to remember, especially when comparing
products for price/featureset. It is weird that they are shipping
a software package with their product that doesn't support UDF
1.02 indeed. Thanks for the heads up on that.

I doubt it wouldn't work on the latest Nero version. It will probably
only support 4x burning, but there isn't any 8x media available
(that you can get) anyway. If the latest Nero doesn't actually
work with the drive then it will very shortly.

Keep in mind that the A07 is just out. I read somewhere that
some people actually bought the A07 with Nero 6 Express, so
that should give some confidence.

well thats kind of my point, what are you going to tell your clients, ummm i just paid over 200 for a dvd drive but i'm waiting for the software?

to me this is a big over sight, i have not seen nero shipping with the new a07 at any outlets near me, i also feel that if i wasn't tech savy and just bought the thing to do home movies i might be a little more then pissed...

Very true. That's for sure. For anyone who actually owns one
do try the demo of Nero to see if it works, that way you can
test it before putting down the hard earned cash. Just trying
to get a workable solution. It's definitely a bad thing and will
monitor the progress of Nero on this matter. If anyone has any
test results to add, please do tell.

Your problem with A07 may have more to do with the media you used than the burner. There are lots of media out there that are just dogs...I know I bought some of bowsers...
