Which DVD burner to get?
Hey everyone...
i'm looking into purchasing a dual format DVD burner (figure i'll be safe and get a burner that will cover all formats, but that's for another discussion) I'm thinking either the Pioneer DVR-A06 or the Sony DRU-510A, both internal drive versions. Honestly, from all that i've read about things there are enough conflicting reports (maximum PC, Cnet, ZDnet, etc) about which drive preforms better, better value, etc. I'll be honesty, given my experiences with the sony vaio series, i'm leaning towards the pioneer burner already, but if the sony burner is truely better, i'll eat some crow! :-P thanks for your opinions! ~Mike |

As I'm wondering exactly between the same drives here's one question to Ed.
Have you used A05 with Vegas 4 and DVD Architect? Another member is having bad experience not being able to record DVD-Rs. He can burn DVD-RW and then make copy to DVD-R using Nero. Is it possible not to be the drive but the PC configuration? |

Hi Bogdan,
I do not use Vegas 4 and DVD Architect. The system I have is Premiere 6.5 (Upgrading to Pro soon!!!) and Sonics Reel DVD LE. However with an earlier edition of Reel DVD 3.0.1 it would not work with the A05 i.e. it was unsupported. They then brought out a patch 3.0.3 which then made it work. The only thing I can think of for this problem, is whether they have installed any Firmware, and whether or not they can burn data (not dvd files) to a -R. Now if they can burn data directly to a -R disk (using Nero or another program) then the A05 is fine, and there is something wrong with DVD Architect. All the best, Ed
