HDV Render to DVD Problem
Please could some kind soul help me out?
I recorded some footage on HDV. Using Vegas Pro 8, I have the project as 1440x1080. However, my friend wants the video for playing on a standard DVD player. Whenever I render the footage as DVD PAL Widescreen (for DVD Architect), the resultant image is very poor quality, very pixelated. Any ideas where I am going wrong please? Many thanks Mike |

I am new to this also with a new XHA1. I did some test footage shot in HD and edited in Premiere Pro CS3. Also was 1440x1080. I went through my normal steps of encoding for DVD (NTSC of course) and burned the disc. The original HD footage looks fabulous on 52" LCD TV. The picture is obviously no HD, it is 720 x 480 I believe but the quality is outstanding compared to Standard definition footage. So what I'm trying to say is I dont think you have to do anything different to make you DVD than you would if it were SD, unless you were trying to burn Blue-ray.

Hi,
Use this Bitrate Calculator. It should give you the bitrates you need to get the job done at the rates you need to make the video look right. Good luck! Mike
