dvd recorders 1080i?
I am getting a Philips dvdr75 after I have had three 985's fail. Does anybody know if a recording from a hdtv can be made at 1080i or 720p on the recorder. The Philips reps told me it can only play back 1080i but can't record it. I will be getting a hdtv and a hd camcorder soon so I want to make sure I can see the increased resolution.
Thank you, Tony |

I checked out a leaflet and it only talks about SD resolution
(ie 720x480 for NTSC). Not a word is spoken on HDTV. Also keep in mind that the DVD standard DOES NOT allow for HD resolutions. So I don't see how an DVD recorder could do this unless they deviate from the standard (ie, not playable in other players). Also it is a bit of a strange answer from the rep that it can play it back but can't record it. So how are you going to get footage in 1080i then? Since you can't record it and no DVD has 1080i.
