Yeah I knew it was only a matter of time before other manufacturers follow Sony's lead. Watch in like a year or so everyone will agree on one format and these dual format DVD-RW drives will be needless.

The NEC is the one I've heard most good stuff about.
I don't know who'd be selling it for $173, but $184 is the lowest I've seen from my list of 'reliable' vendors. Add $50 for an external firewire case, and boom, for about $230, instant external firewire dual format DVD burner. Wahoo! Love technology and falling prices. |

That's what I meant- in that our multi-format burners will be unnecessary/overkill. But I guess it's best to be safe if there is an agreed format in the near future. Similar things were happening when the CD-R era came along.
