DV Expo at LA

Hi Chris
Will you be attending the DV expo at the Los Angeles convention center this Dec. 3-6.

If so then maybe I could eyeball you.

Yes -- I'll be at the Canopus booth. Please drop by and say hello. See the other thread in this forum, "Looking forward to meeting anybody at these events..." for more info.

What kind of purchase are you talking about? ;-)

I never go to these shows to see gear -- I go to meet old friends and make new ones. I go for the people.

The only big deal was Final Cut Pro 3, which still isn't real time. Nice color correction, though.

I don't know the details yet, but FCP 3 also has a different way of handling the media. 1 GB for 40 minutes (I hear!!!!!!!) vs. about 5 minutes/gig, now and zebra stripes in the edit suite. Thank You Apple!!!!

Those lower datarates can only mean more compression..
Which is bad in my eyes... the current 3.7 mb/s is peanuts..
Harddisks are cheap these days! What you want with
zebra stripes in your NLE? There should not be anymore
over (or under) exposure since the camera already cut that
off while recording... (if my knowledge is right)... You can
better shoot it right :)

Just my two cents..

I went to see the toys and meet the people. I guess we could call it looking for an excuse to spend money.

You get to see the products up hand too and hold it close for your close inspection.

Got to meet Chris too, yet sorry I missed the party... no drink for me.

The show was impressive though.

You have to narrow down as to what toys you want coz they were all fantastic...but of course it all depends on your budget and your application.
