DVC7 judging, what's next? YOU ARE A JUDGE!

OK, The movies are all up, you've watched them all, and now wonder, what's next?

Well, if you have submitted a film, or donated to the DVC7 charity pool, YOU ARE A JUDGE!

Juding is really very easy, just pick your top three films, and email me your #1 #2 and #3 choices at thedvchallenge@hotmail.com Please include both the filmmakers name and the film title.
How long do you have to submit your choices? Until this upcoming Friday night, midnight. I'll tally the votes and post the winner on Satuday!

How do you pick your top three films? Voting should be weighted 50% for production quality, and 50% for use of theme. If you need help, here is a system I've used almost since the start.

Each time I watch a film I give it two ratings out of 10. One for how well it uses the theme, one for overall production value. I write them down in order as I go, and if I find that they stack up better or worse to other films, I move their points up and down a little bit.

For example:
________Theme/Story ______ Production
Film A________9_____________ 9.5
Film B________8______________9
Film C________7______________7
Film D________5______________7
Film E________8______________3

By the end I find I have a list that represents fairly accurately what I would have chosen anyway, and no films get forgotten. I will go back and rewatch my top 5 just to make sure they are as I remember them.

Remember, you cannot vote for your own film!

Dang, I thought that by leaning on the Wall o' Shame that I'd get out of judging. ;-)

But it'll be a delightful burden...looking forward to viewing everyone's work!

Just cast my ballot. For me, this was the hardest contest so far. There were so many great presentations with such a variety of themes. Really a hard decision.

Thanks for doing this Dylan, and Chris, all involved and to the prized donators too !!

just cast my vote - boy, I'd hate to be a judge for a living.

going over the entry list was like some 5th grade kickball nightmare. I'd like to pick everyone! Oh well.

Congrats to the winners!

Thanks to Dylan, Chris Hurd, Guy Cochran, and all those who donated!!!

For those that might not know... you can't vote for yourself. I saw someone asking about that in DVC 6. :)

I'm going to watch them all a second time and vote later this week. Good luck to everyone!

This is going to be tough...

I just sent off my votes. Using your method of judging changed a few things for me, but it seemed fair so I went with it.

Thanks again, Dylan!

Good luck to everyone!!

Just sent my judging results in. Top 3 plus 2 runners up, just in case. All 5 names I sent in score 9/9 in my book.

Well done everyone.
