Countdown to the deadline!
I used to hate it when I was scrambling to get my film done on Sunday and Dylan would post a thread with something like, “Tick tock, tick tock—the clock is ticking!”
So here I am trying to torture some of you. ;) You now have until midnight Pacific Standard Time tonight to get your films uploaded to YouTube and/or Vimeo, and a link sent to thedvchallenge@gmail.com. Include in the subject line: DVC14, your name, and “title of your film” Include in the body of the email: Your Name "Title Of Your Film" http://www.theyoutubelink.here/ To those who sent links already, thanks! For those of you who are still working away…..time's getting short! :)

Half of this thing is shot, and with a page-and-an-eighth script I only have one other scene to grab, once my dad gets back.
The deadline's three AM on my coast, and I feel confident. Not to jinx it, of course, it's just nice to finally have the sense I might make it in time. Though I have cut it closer before; sent in my DVC 6 entry at 2:33 AM. |

Sorry guys, pin me to the wall :(
Had a surprise duty of filming 2 Soccer Games this weeked for the NCAA DII Sout Region Tournament and making high lights and such. This did not help my typical last minute filming style. I have maybe 1/4 of it shot. We still plan to finish and share once its done as we think it has a lot of potential. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with!

Yeah
Agreed, sorry to hear about the conflict Josh and I really hope we eventually get to see your film anyway.

Here in L.A., we've got fires, rolling blackouts, and ominous skies.
I can barely keep the editing bay running. |

FFmpeg is cranking away on my video now; with the AVISynth scripts I'm processing (only two, but they're a collective doozy) I'm quite literally running at one frame per second. On a quad core Q6600 with two gigs of RAM.
Good thing my movie's only a minute long, or I'd be in trouble. 1:42 AM EST edit: Done! Uploaded to Youtube and my website, links emailed, time to sit back and relax. Then get up in three hours to go to work. Such is the DV Challenge. Last edited by Robert Martens; November 17th, 2008 at 12:43 AM. |

Well done, Robert! I can hardly wait to see your one-minute film. :)
Joseph, that's quite a situation you're in. As long as your film is emailed by sometime tomorrow morning when Dylan and I wake up--that doesn't sound right, but you know what I mean--you will be just fine.

I woke this morning to see more news of the terrible fires around L.A. Hope you are safe and unaffected by the growing tragedy around you. Watching Christopher Lloyd walking through his burned out home, really make you think about what is important in life. Dick |

Dick,
Thanks for your message. I am okay. Aside from not being able to edit for a few hours, I remain largely unaffected. But it was very ominous driving around yesterday. My entire city is engulfed in a fog of yucky smoke. Joseph |

I was planning on doing one myself as well but in the end I didn't have the time to do 2 so I just helped with lighting and gripped Jim Huenergardts piece "Passport"....those with a keen eye will also notice a certain Arab Arms Dealer in the film who looks alot like me :P
So can I maybe be in the chair next to the wall of shame? not all the way on it? Joseph, I hope every thing goes OK down there? Those fires sound horrible? My girlfriend lives in Irvine and she says it is just nasty down there? We will all be sending our thoughts your way for sure! Best of luck to all the DVC 14 entries!!
