A proposal

I'm new here (just got my first camera Canon A1) and I plan on participating in the fun. I'm a complete beginner with Video so don't expect much. Anyhow, I was looking through all the old threads to check out what others have done and I was bummed that most of the links were broken or taken down.

So this is my proposal: I do a lot of web work and have a few dedicated servers with bandwidth to spare. I was thinking it would be cool to set up a place to track all our clips with Bittorrent. I could provide space and bandwidth to get seeds started or to prevent them from dying. What do you think? If there is enough interest I just might do it.

I'm reaching a point of having to either pay for more space or remove some of my stuff (yes, I know--people would be so disappointed ;), so I appreciate your offer. :)

Hey Dan
If you want to offer that up I think it's a great idea. I'm sure a lot of people would be thrilled to get free bandwidth!
I'm currently moving most people in the direction of Youtube, since it's a good long term option for most, but since they only allow low quality versions, people would probably be happy with a space to hold their high quality versions.

Be careful Dan, you may not realize what you are getting yourself into. You might find yourself so busy keeping track of everyone elses videos, that you may not have time for your own! :)

Anyway, I'd be very interested because YouTube is all I have.

Good point Stacy. I have a tendency to get myself in trouble like that :) If I come up with a way it will be semi-automated and it will use the bittorrent protocol - which would make it kind of a group effort.
