DIY Dolly on Hose

Hi guys,
I ve heard about dollies that run on garden hose and I think its a great idea!
Any websites with the list of parts or links for making one?

-I am interested in doing arcs in a circle and straight dolly-ing on cement or mostly level surfaces (cement may have some bumps to overcome.) One man crew is idea. Fast set up with Sony Ex1r or 5D camera and tripod mountable is ideal.

Thanks in advance!

Re: DIY Dolly on Hose

Hi Silas

A simple aluminium frame with each longitudinal made up of inverted channel provides a 45 degree face onto which skateboard wheels can be mounted (two at each corner) ... This will run on any tubing from just over 1/2" right up to 2 or 3" ... I have a pic of my dolly on my DIY page at :

DIY Camera Rig Tutorials

That would give you some ideas to play with...I run mine usually in straight lines and use the clip in poles from an old 10' square garden gazebo which are about 5/8" in diameter. Just don't buy really cheap hose that flattens when you stand on it...I would consider also domestic garden hose BUT fill it with sand so it can't compress but will still be totally flexible!!!

Thanks Chris!

Here is another link I was looking at that would probably work,

The sand in the hose is a good idea, and the angled metal sounds good too!
