Find sponsors for a finished documentary. Distribution on line

Hola guys,

after a couple of years of work finally i have finished my documentary. Nowaday i need to know if there's any particular help you could give me to find sponsor so this could be print in dvds and dilvulgated everywhere.

Is there any kind of service that gives you the chance to sell the product trough dvd or digital download?
Amazon does similar things with books right?
Many thanks

Congratulations on finishing the doc! Networking at film festivals might be a good place to start.

Hi Marcus,

Just saw this thread today.

Instead of self distribution or screening at a few film fests, try looking for a programme distributor.

Google mipcom, mipdoc, napte, discop

Broadcasters / studios generally don't buy from content creators (you). They license your content from a programme/content distributor.

So instead of a few filmfests or one or two channels showing your doc, why not get a distributor to sell it worldwide(theatrical,tv,dvd-bluray,digital streaming or download, Education, libraries, VOD, in-flight etc). Move on to your next project while collecting royalties from this doc.

Cheers
Mike

Have you considered farming it through a festival circuit? If you choose carefully and don't blow your money on all 350,000+ festivals worldwide, you can actually garner some attention and credentials that may help you secure a more favorable deal.

While we have not actually had a distributer buy a film from us at festivals, we have the awards we received there lead to licensing agreements after the fact.
