Hiring New Zealand Crew for day - taxes?
Anyone have experience hiring NZ crew for a day or a few hours? How do you deal with taxes and stuff - I know in America, you'd just give them a 1099 form.

Nearly all crew here are contractors or working for their own company. Very rare to find an employee. As such, you just pay the final amount on their invoice - they take care of the rest.
Occasionally someone will want you to take care of the withholding tax, and for that you need an ir330 form Inland Revenue - Te Tari Taake You will most likely be charged GST of 12.5% (sales tax) by the contractor - and you will have to pay that as well. If you hire a good experienced crew from crews.tv - NZCREWS.TV, New Zealand TV crews Cameraman, Sound, Directors, Editors and Producers they will be able to assist you with all of this info. |
