Problems with .mov in QT10
I am a bit of a newbie to solid state recording, so please forgive my lack of knowledge on this area.
I recently bought a JVC GY-HM700, with one of the main reasons being that it camera wraps the codec into .mov files. I have recently bought a new MacBookPro (17" i7) which has Quicktime 10 on it. I had no problems viewing the clips on my old MBP with QT 7.6.9. However the new MBP will not recognise the .mov clips in QT10 and says I will need additional software. Anyone have any ideas what I need to do? Thanks in Advance Keith |

Hey Keith - I believe to view those clips, you need the XDCamEX codec. Apple ships it as part of FCP (it's called AppleHDV.component) but it's not standard on OSX ... I thought JVC provided a version, but maybe not? You may wish to reach out to them.

Re: Problems with .mov in QT10
Thanks for that Colin. I "migrated" my apps folder from my old MBP to new one and that seems to have done the trick!
