Excellent Solution!!
Purchased Clipwrap to facilitate the editing of footage produced with my Sony NEX VG10- works perfectly and allows FCP to edit the files w/o transcoding!!!
Bravo Clipwrap Team........Apple needs to buy you guys and integrate this technology into FCS! One small question: why are the re-wrapped files larger than the original files? Thanks again for this great utility for us AVCHD shooters using FCP. |

Hi Steve - Glad it's working for you. There are two reasons the rewrapped files are a little bigger. First, the Quicktime format is a bit less efficient in terms of disk space than the transport stream formats - quicktime keeps a global sample table, and a variety of other bits of metadata, plus additional per-sample data.
The other reason is, if you have the "convert audio to lpcm" box checked, ClipWrap will decompress your audio to the raw LPCM format. We strongly recommend this, as Macs don't tend to deal well with AC3 natively. -Colin |

Colin, thanks for the reply.
Perfectly understandable regarding the slightly larger file sizing. And yes, I do have the LPCM box checked as it was checked by default so I left it as is- works fine thus far! Again thanks for providing a great solution to the AVCHD dilemma FCP users face. A satisfied customer~ |
