Reliable burning program for DVD+RW ?
Hi,
I've been using Nero7 for burning DVD+R/DVD-R, and it works reliably. I really like the verify feature. However, my results with Ridata DVD+RW 8x and TDK DVD-RW 4x are less than stellar. About 2/3 of my burns show one of more sectors that don't match the source. I'm burning on IDE BenQ DW1655 (Master on private IDE cable to motherboard) and SATA Plextor PX755sa, and both seem to fail in a few sectors. Given my variation of media brand, media format, bus interface, content, I'm beginning to wonder if Nero is the problem. Has anyone had good results with Verify on another program ? Thanks ! |

Ridata is not the best quality DVD media. TDK does make their own first class media, but like most name brands they also source from a variety of DVD media manufacturers, some good, some bad. An excellent guide regarding DVD media quality can be found here: DVD Blank media quality guide & FAQ
I would look first to the DVD media used. See if you can get your hands on some of the first class media mentioned in the guide. Not only should your burn quality improve, but the best quality media will also last longer. |

Thanks for the excellent pointer to the media quality guide.
My problem with the DW1655 was fixed with a new DW1670 burner. I paid less and didn't get the LightScribe burning (boo hoo, just kidding). The same DVD+RW media verified 100% on several different burns. Cool. Now, if I could only get that $110 Plextor burner working as well on DVD+RW media ... |
