Halo removal & understanding quantization matrices
annoying thing about mpeg2 sd compression is that pretty much every encoder out there puts halos on your encoded footage when it was not present on the original footage.
I've tracked this down to the quantization matrices that are used. Even an advanced product like cinemacraft says nothing about how to adjust them in the supplied documentation although it has a matrix editor built-in. so I turn to you good forum folks... what are the magic numbers to put in the matrices to get halo-free encodings.

That is just an artifact of sharpening. I found it objectionable on the computer, but invisible on T.V. How did you view it?
