Cleaner 6.5 for Mac Shipping!
As Mike at www.hdforindies.com accurately called it - ZombieWare! Everyone had long given up on Cleaner hearing that the engineering staff had been layed off. I guess they kept someone over there.
http://tinyurl.com/cfzvh http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet...112&id=5679490 I think those links should work. So I just bought the upgrade and now I can encode H.264 easily with Audio/Video Fade In/Out, Normalized Audio, and a nice looking watermark. :D http://holyzoo.com/media/video/DarbyDance_250kbs.mov

Steev,
Any opinion on which you think is best - Sorenson or Cleaner? |

I'm not Steev, but I'll gladly add my $.02. :-)
I used Sorenson Squeeze for Mac all the time for QT's. I don't think it does any other format, though a different version might. I use cleaner for Windows Media files and MPG's and the occasional...choke...Real Media File. You can get pretty good Sorenson based quicktimes out of QuickTime's Export, but have more control in Squeeze. Both are good tools...they just do different things. KW |

Thanks Kevin!
Over the past few years I've used Sorenson to convert my FCP Quicktime files into .flv's. But now I'm thinking of just making movies for Quicktime and Windows. I've downloaded the trial version of Cleaner and am experimenting with it as I can. Appreciate your $.02! |

I never made the switch to Squeeze, since their version that was released after Tiger was buggy and crashed a LOT, so I didn't purchase it. Maybe it's better now.
So far Cleaner is very stable, and I can do cool things with H.264. I also tested Flip4Mac encoding to WMV9 and Cleaner seems to play well with it. I just haven't purchased the licence. I'm happy that Cleaner is back in the game!!

Any word on when you're getting your HVX that you pre-ordered? |

I'm getting a box shipped. Ordered on Dec 22, 2005. Probably burning disks and printing manuals are at issue. Nothing like that needed for download.
What's unusual is how Autodesk handles. I updgraded from Softpress Freeway 3.5 to 4. I downloaded it immediately and they send me the boxed set about 4 weeks later. Wish Autodesk would do the same thing. It's either download or box. I like the way Softpress handled it. |
