pioneer burner confusion

I'm looking to buy a Pioneer DVR-A08 DVD burner, but as I'm searching the web, I find it refered to by various model numbers:

Pioneer DVR-A08
Pioneer DVR-A08XL
Pioneer DVR-A08XLA

Does anyone know if these are all the same unit?? sometimes in an article they use these numbers interchangably.

I checked the pioneer website but couldn't find an answer!

I'm afraid I'll buy the DVR-A08, and then find out it's the "junior, stripped down version" of the DVR-A08XLA!

thanks.

answer

for anyone who's interested, pioneer finally answered my question.

"The DVR-A08 and DVR-A08XL are the same. The letter after the XL indicates color. DVR-A08XLA (Beige faceplate) / DVR-A08XLB (Black faceplate) / DVR-A08XLC (Silver faceplate)"

SO NOW YOU KNOW! :)

Hi Robert,

If I'm not too late, I'd suggest you buy the A09 vs the 08. I bought the A08 about a week before the 09 came out... the A09 burns DL media faster. $62 at http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...129-161&DEPA=1 - read the specs between the two burners. HTH.

thanks

it was a typo on my part - I HAVE been looking at the A09, not the A08.

Here's another question:

Why would the Pioneer DVRS201 DVD Burner cost $4500, when the A09 costs under $100.

Is it speed that makes this burner more expensive?

thanks!
