8x dvd-r burning

What software tools have been used to burn dvd-r at 8x on the pioneer 107 dvd burner?

Nero, ulead dvd workshop, and ulead movie factory 3 will all only burn -r at 4x.

Has anyone been able to burn a dvd-r at 8x?

Thanks

Wes

Hi Wes,

You will probably get problems (compatability problems) burning at 8x. Is there acturally 8x media available? Most DVD authoring software will stop at 4x becuase of this.

cheers,

I agree that you may have compatibility problems burning at the higher speeds, but there is 8x dvd-r media available and it seems reasonable that the manufactureres of the burners would provide software that would utilize their faster capabilities.

As of right now, I can not find any software that will burn DVD-r at speeds greater than 4x.

I'm happy that my pioneer 107 drive will burn dvd-r at 4x with good set top dvd player compatibility. My Sony drive did not make as compatible disks.

Regards,

Wes

Have you updated the drive's firmware?
Usually the reason you can't burn at higher speeds is that your drives firmware doesn't recognise the newer media as 8x speed.
Any software should be apropreate to burn at highest speeds.
