DLT Tape Drives
I was wondering if anybody knew of a DLT tape drive that's compatable with dvd studio pro 2 and how much they go for.

I've checked both the information about the product on the
Apple site and in their support section but could not find anything at all. Really weird. I've wondered the same thing about a PC authoring package as well. Seems almost like they don't want you to know. I could not even find anything for it in the newsgroups. Perhaps it is best to contact Apple regarding this information? The/your authoring house(s) will probably have the answer as well since they deal often with DLT tapes.

What is your system spec? If you've got a G4 you're fine, if you've got a dual boot G4 you're even better. If you've got a G5 you might need to get a G4 or PC but the drive isn't a problem it's the SCSI card.
You can use any DLT other than DLT1 and they are just plug and play. Get a used one cheap, try ebay they are usually on there all the time but a few people are running about trying to buy them all up. A DLT4000 is your best bet if it's just for dvd-video or even a DLT2000 for that matter. DLTIII or DLTIIIXT cartridges are fine. Jake |
