With all the cell phone sufer'n in the world .... I just purchased one the other day... and I gotta tell ya.... it's living up to it's hype for me! I was surfing dvingfo while sitting in a taco bar at lunch... and a fella came over and asked if I liked it... I said yes... showed him a video I shot... and he asked for my card.... said he owned a marketing firm.... " I have some projects for you" he said! now is that worth a $500 phone or what? |

well.... I've been surfing for years on phones as well.... ( nokia's, sidekicks, blackberrries, dash... ) but never like this...
one thing I get a kick out of is how people compare features... saying that other phones have the same features.... but it's like comparing a corolla with a lexus... yeah they both have 4 wheels, a cd player, ac, etc... but they're not the same.... p.s. Most of my clients are ad agencies... Mac's are almost a required part of the kit. |

I agree, image is everything! If you work in a pro-Apple industry, you need to look the part.
PS. I'm editing Mac vs. PC comments out of this thread. You can take them to respective PC and Mac forums where people care.

One problem with Apple is they only give you a particular set of features they think makes sense, and that's it. If the iPhone meets your needs and you can afford the price of the phone plus a service plan that's great, but it's not the right tool for everyone and the cost can add up to as much as $3000 over the first two years. So long as people keep all that in context the good things about the iPhone are respectable. I wonder what the iPhone2 will be like...

I guess if I did not run my business off a device like an "all in one" and I was just a geek that bought things for there coolness... then it would not be a good choice. I'm not a gamer, tuner, or a golfer.... I try to spend my money on tools that make me money or at least help me make money to live the life I love living.
But... at $80 a month and $500 for such device... that allows my to respond with voice, text, images.... a cal, a video portfolio, a map, etc... then it's a no brainer.... and again I must say it does all very well! I spent more than $500 on a matte box.... does it really do anymore than black cinefoil? All in all... my happiness and having a reliable way to communicate in a way that "I'm" used to it's what's most important to me. I once lost a $12k project due to nextels inability to notify me of a voicemail... Cost me $200 to move to another provider plus the cost of another device to use with the new provider. $3000 for 2 years for a tool is not much... as long as that tool keeps the business up and running without failure. On a side note.... I'm really happy that apple is the warranty provider on this device rather than the service provider! By the way Kevin... I lived in Sac for 10 years.... I miss Jimboy's, Harlow's and Cafe Bernardo ( bfest! ) My wife misses Round Table pizza ( none here ) This will be my last post on this topic.... unless kevin needs my address to fed-x me a bunch uf jimboy's tacos! hehe... kidding... |
