Will items like these have impact on products such as the XDCAM EX?

Not directly. The Solid State Disk is a flash memory device designed to replace a laptop hard drive. It uses a SATA interface.
The SxS memory cards that the HDCAM EX uses are a different form factor (ExpressCard) and interface (PCIe). But clearly flash memory is being manufactured more efficiently every year, and the price / GB is coming down. The speed and capacity are increasing, faster than small form factor hard drives. These devices are just another example of that trend. |
