Sony Announces HDW-790P HDCAM Camcorder
Sony further strengthens HDCAM line-up at NAB '07 with HDW-790P camcorderApr 16, 2007
New design builds upon the performance of the HDW-750P with new features from the top-end HDW-F900R NAB 2007, Las Vegas, April 15, 2007 – Building on the success of the HDW-750P, the industry standard for high quality High Definition TV production in Europe, Sony today announced the launch of its successor model, the HDW-790P. The new camcorder will be on display for the first time at NAB and European visitors can also get a closer look in a dedicated Sony Europe Lounge in Las Vegas Convention Center Room S232. Joining the HDW-F900R and HDW-730S camcorders within the HDCAM family, the new HDW-790P has been designed with operation and pricing based upon the HDW-750P, but with some powerful new features added from Sony’s top-end CineAlta HDCAM camcorder, the HDW-F900R. Like the HDW-750P, the new camcorder is 1080/25P and 1080/50i switchable and uses three 2/3-inch Power HAD FIT CCD sensors each with 2.2Mpixel (1920 x 1080) resolution. Features added from the HDW-F900R include: 12-bit A/D conversion; the four selectable HyperGamma characteristics; two HD-SDI outputs; four digital audio inputs (two AES/EBU channel pairs); and image inversion (with the optional HKDW-905R board). HDW-790P HDCAM Camcorder “The launch of the HDW-790P is clear evidence of our continued commitment to the HDCAM format and the many thousands of users around the world”, said Peter Sykes, HDCAM Product Manager, Sony Professional Solutions Europe. “Within the last year, HDCAM sales have surged past the 30,000 mark and we have introduced the new HDW-F900R, the new lower cost HDW-1800 series VTRs and now the new HDW-790P camcorder – the line-up just keeps getting stronger.” Compact and lightweight at around 5.4kg*, the HDW-790P can be used with a monochrome viewfinder or the new HDVF-C35W 3.5-inch LCD HD Colour Viewfinder, which will also debut at NAB. “Since its introduction in 2002, the HDW-750P has set the benchmark for television productions which require a prestige look and its reputation is unmatched,” continued Peter Sykes. “There is no doubt that this camcorder continues to play the leading role in the region’s migration to HD and we are confident that its successor, the HDW-790P will carry on this trend.” The HDW-790P will be available in Europe from the summer 2007. * Mass with typical ENG lens, cassette and BP-GL95 battery fitted. |
