I will definitely be buying one when I upgrade to a newer MacBook Pro later in the year.

Max on Youtube had disappointing results. In addition to being expensive, many tasks showed no acceleration. In particular exporting isn’t aided by egpu. Note these issues seem to stem from that Apple hasn’t added full support in FCPX for eGpu.

No way to upgrade. You are tied to what is inside the box. Similar to trashcan MacPro.
