Nothing says if the lens is full frame or not, but since it's an Ef not efs mount, it should be. Right?
Great range for cinema.

Re: New Canon 18-80mm Compact Servo Lens and ME200S-SH Multi-Purpose Camera Announced
Has anyone heard if the new Canon 18-80mm Servo Zoom lens (native EF mount) is compatible with the soon to ship new Canon EOS 1DX Mk II EF mount? Because the dual pixel auto focus capability of the new 1DX2 is even better than the C300 Mk II and the 1DX2 lets you pull focus and maintains dual pixel autofocus even when shooting 4K 4:2:2 60fps internal to the CFast 2.0 card.

Hi Douglas,
While there's no reason that you can't use this lens on the new 1DX, it won't cover the full frame. It's an EF lens, but only covers super35...so unfortunately you won't be shooting 4k anything on this camera with this lens...unless you like a nice black border around your image. Not sure that the DPAF is better on the 1Dx than the C300 MK II...most of what I've read says it's faster than previous DSLR's. The read speed of the C300mk ii and the 1Dx appear to be the same, so I'd imagine similar performance. |

Actually when you read up on the way that 4K shooting takes place it crops the image from the central portion of the full active sensor area 5472 x 3648, but since the 4K movie is only taking the central 4096 x 2160 pixels that may fit almost within the range of the zoom lens.

Thanks for pointing that out. I wasn't aware. From the dimensions on BH site, it looks like the lens's 31.4 mm image circle might just clear the 26.9 x 14.2 window of the 1DxII, although my guess is you'll see some vignetting as canon states the coverage as Super35, which is a bit smaller.
