Re: Panasonic Announces Compact 4K Super 35 VariCam LT Cinema Camcorder
I was going to ask you to change the title. You did it anyway.

Re: Panasonic Announces Compact 4K Super 35 VariCam LT Cinema Camcorder
Is the 4K LT format 4:2:0 10bit? or 8bit? Press release was very vague about details of the LT format.

Good question. I've put it forward to my contacts at Panasonic.

Re: Panasonic Announces Compact 4K Super 35 VariCam LT Cinema Camcorder
Here's the reply I received from the Varicam product manager at Panasonic:
Q: Is the new VariCam 4K LT format 4:2:0 10 bit? Or is it 8 bit? A: All of the codecs in the VC-35 / VC-LT are at least 10 bit 4:2:2. There are no 4:2:0 codecs in the VC-35 or VC-LT for recording on the main slot. |

Re: Panasonic Announces Compact 4K Super 35 VariCam LT Cinema Camcorder
Very nice. In the very least 10bit 4:2:2 is a really good sign. We'll have to see a file in practice and examine it to know for sure, but it's sounding good.

Re: Panasonic Announces Compact 4K Super 35 VariCam LT Cinema Camcorder
The camera was on display at a rental place in Boston today and I decided to go and get some quick shots.

Re: Panasonic Announces Compact 4K Super 35 VariCam LT Cinema Camcorder
Here is an interesting video from Newsshooter with an interview of Geoff Boyle giving his opinion on the Varicam LT and comparing it to other cameras in that price range. It has some great bits of info on the Varicam LT but I really liked the way he weighed it against other cameras and how he sees them in a practical sense.
BVE 2016: Cinematographer Geoff Boyle says ?ARRI have a problem?, likes Varicam LT image, uses C300mkII autofocus.
