Sony to stop making Betamax tapes in 2016

The format was introduced in 1975, disappeared from mainstream use in the 1980s and Japan seems to have been the main holdout for the remaining use of the format.

HDCAM SR will live on. I know some post houses still have to deliver HDCAM SR.
