.zip has been around forever. Now every operating system knows how to unzip, but it can't preserve the filesystem and the default operating system implementation can't span. I can see they're trying to preserve the filesystem inside the AXF file, making it behave more like an ISO image or Disk clone image.
Spanning is pretty important, making it more like the best aspects of a .zip, .iso, and a .rar all in one. |
