This has a number of fixes, plus various improvements to XML import and Blackmagic I/O hardware integration. Also, there has been some development regarding the Lightworks Console on Mac. |

Version 12.0.1 has now been released. This is a maintenance build addressing issues that have arisen since the V12 release. Also included are new Colour Correction Preset effects along with 12 new sound EQ presets. There are also new tutorial videos covering all the FX improvements in version 12, including how to get the best out of the new presets.

There's a new beta maintenance build available: 12.0.2a,

The release version of 12.0.2 is now available.
Lightworks Version 12.0.2 Now Available on Windows Linux and Mac OS X!. This includes support for Blackmagic Fusion 7.5 and addresses two issues of sending audio levels in an AAF to a Protools session, along with support for Boris FX plugins within the 64bit Windows version. |

There has been a number of new video tutorials added to the official range. These include operation and workflow of the video routing panel using node based visual effects and other effects operations, also the audio mixer panel. Other recent tutorials include colour correction and blend modes in V12.

The second Beta of version 12.0.3 is now available.
New Lightworks Beta 12.0.3.B Now Available on Windows Linux and Mac OS X! This has a number of fixes, mostly associated with varispeed in AAF imports/exports, Also. startup issues on Windows XP (Although still not supported, the 32 bit version of Lightworks runs on XP) and nstallation errors when new Visual C++ libraries are installed. Having used both they've got pretty similar learning curves, they just have different paradigms. Having said that, I got up and going faster with Lightworks, it really comes down to how individual people like working. I feel that Lightworks has a cleaner interface and less cluttered than Vegas.
Vegas is better at audio than Lightworks, but Lightworks is better at long form and narrative editing, this sort of reflects their backgrounds.. |

Here's a quick start guide for Lightworks which gives the basics. There are different methods for carrying out operations, so you can use the mouse, keyboard, control console (be it the Lightworks or third party) or a combination of these. The layout is also flexible allowing the bins, viewers, timelines etc to be arranged to personal taste.
